Ordizia is a small basque village not far from San Sebastián, they have a quite good rugby club, on of my dearest friends plays in there and I’ve played a couple of times against their second XV, lovely people, really basque.
Yesterday, for the first time in history, they won the Copa del Rey, the national cup in Spain. That’s what happened when the team get back to the village. Basque people, an entire city crazy for rugby.

Our first Christmas in Spain my 6th grade class at the American School of Bilbao (which was actually a 20 min. drive outside of Bilbao in Berango, but no one cared) sang this song at a Christmas concert.
It’s the first Basque song I ever learned, and thought it was absolutely beautiful even if I couldn’t understand a word of it.

My dad found this while going through crates and boxes to throw out and I had to rescue it from the trash.
Because this…this is the El Correo (regional newspaper in Bilbao) special from May 1998 when Athletic finished second in the Liga and qualified for the Champions League in their Centennial season.

It’s going in my collection of newspapers with the El Periódico in Catalan my brother brought back for me from Barcelona last year when Barça won the Champions League. :D
